Long-time friends of ours, the Emerson String Quartet has accumulated an unparalleled list of achievements over three decades: more than thirty acclaimed recordings, nine Grammys, three Gramophone Awards, the Avery Fisher Prize and Musical America’s "Ensemble of the Year.” The Emerson celebrate their 40th anniversary this season and their program includes a new work by English composer Mark Anthony Turnage commissioned in part by Meany Center, as well as playing a piece with our esteemed UW Professor of Piano Craig Sheppard.
